Diana Nikolova graduated from the English Philology Department of Sofia University St Kliment Ohridsky. She specialised in modern English and Scottish literature in Edinburgh in 1994. Some years later Diana acquired an MBA from SDA Bocconi, Milan.

After 15 years as a business partner in a translation company, Diana made an U-turn back to literature.

In 2014 she founded the publishing house Via Lettera Ltd with the idea to showcase that translation is a two-way street. Diana has written several collections of folk stories - 'Folk Tales and Fables From Bulgaria' (2016), 'Myths and Legends From Bulgaria' (2019), both with updated and enriched versions, published in 2023, 'Folk Tales From Italy' (2020), 'God Willing. Folk Tales and Legends' (2021) as well as '100 Bulgarian Folk Tales' (2024).
